Job Responsibilities:
Position Description: The SMILE Coordinator will:
SUPPORT children and their families for long term school success,
MENTOR essential skills and strengthen positive parent-child interactions,
INCLUDE families, early learning programs and schools in the transition process,
LEARN to understand family dynamics to create a nurturing home environment,
ENGAGE the community to support early learning.
Key Accountabilities: Develop relationships with children and their families to promote positive child and family relationships, development and decision making. Provide a model for healthy, trusting relationships through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries. Conduct virtual/home visits for each assigned child (minimum 3 hours/month), schedule can be customized to meet individual family needs. Provide encouragement, emotional support and connection to community resources for families. Maintain confidentiality. Create an individualized child/family plan. Attend meetings and trainings as required.
Education, Skills, Experience, and Training Required:
Minimum Child Development Associate (CDA) Associate’s/Bachelors’ Degree in a related field preferred, plus three year’s experience working with young children and families
Valid driver’s license
Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearances
Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History complete and clear
FBI fingerprinting complete and clear
Ability to utilize a variety of communication modes, including videoconferencing, telephone, text and email applications
Ability to manage schedule to meet needs of assigned families
Ability to work independently
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to exercise sound professional judgement and maintain appropriate professional boundaries
Understanding of and commitment to the mission, vision, and goals of United Way.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to stand, reach, stoop, and handle and/or lift and up to 25 pounds. Ability to safely enter, exit, and navigate a variety of home environments.
