Pennsylvania's Career Lattice
The Pennsylvania Keys to Quality Early Learning Career Lattice is a guide to the education levels required for many different positions in the early care and education field. The Career Lattice encourages practitioners to attain credentials and degrees and to plan their educational pathway according to the position that they are interested in attaining. One indicator of high quality programs is the employment of a teaching staff that has the educational qualifications, knowledge, and professional commitment necessary to promote children’s learning and development and to support families’ diverse needs and interests. Children benefit most when their teachers have high levels of formal education and specialized early childhood professional preparation.
The Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) offers several ways for early childhood and school-age professionals to receive assistance in paying for professional development through tuition assistance, financial aid, and scholarship programs.
